Hello Voyagers! My name is Tyler Brogan and I teach seventh-grade English/Language Arts. I graduated in 2015 from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and again in 2018 from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Master of Science in Education. This is my third year teaching in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (previously 7th and 8th-grade at Montgomery Central Middle) and I am both thrilled and proud to serve the virtual students of this district! My goal as a teacher is to help all of my students find adventure, joy, and success in reading and writing! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to contact me via email ([email protected]) or phone (931-553-1117 Ext. 2027).

We will be using two learning platforms this year: Canvas and StudySync.

+ Canvas is where your actual classes are located. Check it daily for news, important information, assignments not assigned on StudySync, and the Slides used that day for information on what was learned and assigned (and missed, if absent).

~ To access Canvas, open ClassLink and click the "Canvas" icon (it's grey and red).

+ StudySync is our textbook this year, and the StudySync app houses digital versions of all our texts and most assignments and assessments.

~ To access StudySync, open ClassLink and click the "McGraw-Hill ConnectEd" app (it's red), then simply choose your class period (the associated icon is yellow) and you're in!

We will be using the Remind app this year for communication purposes. All important news, updates, upcoming dates, and reminders will be pushed out through this app. It is free to use and sends communication out via text messages (app download not required).

To join, text @42c748e to 81010.

ELA and math consumables are here! Please stop by 303 Fairview Lane anytime during school hours to pick up your workbooks. :)

**Virtual Expectations**
-- Make sure you are in a quiet, comfortable area where you can focus.
-- Have your laptop charged before entering class, as well as your supplies readily available (unit consumable, pencils, highlighters, headphones, and stylus).
-- Join the class on time. (Reminder: After the first five minutes of class, attendance will be submitted and your parent or guardian will be instantly notified if you are not in class. Make sure you are on time!)

-- Of course, being present does mean attending all of your classes throughout the week. However, the expectation being set by me goes deeper than that...
-- Make sure your camera is turned on and facing you for the entirety of class. This is non-negotiable.
-- Engage during class. Ask questions, share out your thoughts and ideas, and actively participate in classroom discussions and group work.

-- Raise your hand using the Zoom feature if you have a question or would like to share out.
-- Be polite when speaking and collaborating with others, even if you disagree with them.

-- Be kind to others, as well as yourself. Have a positive growth mindset and never give up on yourself.
